LG Officially Announces Optimus G Smartphone: 4.7-inch True HD IPS + Display, Snapdragon S4 Pro Quad-Core CPU, 2GB RAM, 13 MP Camera (Specs, Image)

After teasing us with a sprinkle of detail here and there for the last month, LG finally announced its flagship “Optimus G” Android smartphone in full. The Korea-based handset manufacturer officially revealed a press image and the following specs:

- Display: 4.7-inch True HD IPS + (1280×768) display
- World’s first fully integrated G2 Touch Hybrid glass cover technology (in-cell touch?)
- 13 megapixel rear camera
- 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera
- CPU: Qualcomm APQ 8064 Snapdragon S4 Pro 1.5GHz quad-core processor
- Battery capacity: 2,100 mAh
- 4G LTE connectivity
- Size: 131.9 * 68.9 * 8.45mm
- Weight: 145g
- “Invisible” border, super thin bezel
- “Luxurious crystal reflection” back
- Operating System: Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich with LG’s custom UX

LG also vertically-integrated its sister companies, LG Chem, LG Display and LG Innotek, to deliver a product that offers longer battery life, a thinner profile and a brighter display compared to its predecessors. The Optimus G will be released in Korea starting next month, September, and a global launch will be scheduled later. NTT Docomo will launch the phone (model L-01E) in Japan in either October or November. Look for the OG to be formally unveiled on stage at IFA 2012 on August 29.
