LG Optimus Vu 5-inch Android Smartphone Released

March 5, 2012

Today, LG launched the Optimus Vu for SK Telecom in South Korea. The phone-tablet hybrid proudly sports a massive 5-inch IPS display (1024×768, 650-nit brightness) with 4:3 aspect ratio, 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, an 8 megapixel rear camera with LED flash, 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera, 32GB of internal storage, 2080mAh battery, 4G LTE, HDMI-out, stylus integration, and DLNA support – all in a 8.5mm thin body. Although the Optimus Vu is running Android 2.3 Gingerbread out of the box, LG reaffirms an update to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich will be available within 3 months. It’s unclear if LG will bring the uniquely designed Optimus Vu to the US, but if they do, it will directly compete with the AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note.
